Abstract:

The greater omentum can be used for breast reconstruction after mastectomy due to its strong absorptive function and covering/padding capability. However, the harvest of the greater omentum by the open access causes serious abdominal trauma, and it cannot fill the defect of a big breast due to its limited volume, so it has not been widely applied in clinic. This article focused on the application of laparoscopically harvested pedicled omental flap to reduce the trauma of donor site and introduced the technique of breast reconstruction with the greater omentum combined with the prosthesis in patients with big breasts.
