Abstract:

Objective

To explore the efficacy of the management mode of nursing responsibility group in medical aid team in the treatment of COVID-19 patients in Hubei province.

Methods

For this prospective study, 48 COVID-19 patients in the 7th unit of Taikang Tongji (Wuhan) Hospital from February 19 to March 3, 2020 were enrolled as the experimental group, and another 48 COVID-19 patients from another unit (randomly extracted from other 18 units) served as the control group. Totally 100 nurses worked for two groups (50 for each group). The nursing function management mode was employed in the control group. The experimental group initially adopted the nursing function management mode and changed to the management mode of nursing responsibility group one week later. The nursing satisfaction questionnaire of patients and job satisfaction questionnaire of nurses were delivered to the patients and nurses in two groups respectively at the initial time of the study (W0) and 2 weeks after the implementation of nursing responsibility group in the experimental group (W2). Then the scores of the two groups before and after the implementation were compared. The scores between two groups were compared by the t test of two independent samples, and paired t test was used for comparison within the group.

Results

(1) Patient satisfaction: the satisfaction score of patients in the experimental group at W2 was significantly higher than that at W0 (97.1±2.0 vs 92.0±2.6, t=-10.719, P<0.001]; the satisfaction score of patients in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group at W2 (97.1±2.0 vs 91.3±1.0, t=-17.750, P<0.001). (2) The job satisfaction of nurses: in the experimental group, the satisfaction score of nurses at W2 was significantly higher than that at W0[(72.8±1.4 vs 67.6±1.5, t=-14.591, P<0.001], and the satisfaction score of nurses in the experimental group nurses at W2 was significantly higher than that in the control group (72.8±1.4 vs 66.4±1.7, t=-17.127, P<0.001).

Conclusion

The management mode of nursing responsibility group in medical aid team can effectively improve patient satisfaction with nursing and job satisfaction of nurses, and promote the nursing quality in special medical tasks.
